I first spied Saint Laurent’s varsity jacket on Wyatt Shears in the brand’s 2013 campaign. It struck me as sleek – for sure. But it was later, only after seeing it worn by A$AP Rocky, that I realized how perfect it actually was. In fact, this particular jacket has become something of a celebrity staple, making the rounds on everyone from Justin Bieber to Nick Young, and most recently Cara Delevigne. I get why. Saint Laurent‘s jacket isn’t overtly preppy in the way so many ‘trendy’ varsity jackets tend to be. It isn’t too designed or complicated, or even annoyingly look-at-me-ish. Instead it’s 100% wearable. Dressed-down or up, the jacket – a monochrome dream in wool and white leather – is here for the long-haul. A wardrobe essential is born…
