Three Spring Trends You’ll Actually Like

This past weekend I was walking home from brunch when I realized something; spring has sprung! The birds are out, things are blossoming, the air is fragrant, people are dining al fresco – it’s all happening. A quick scroll of my Instagram feed confirmed that spring is everywhere – even London. So in an effort to remain relevant (but mostly because I’m always looking for an excuse to write about beautiful clothes and speculate how I’d wear them), here’s three trends I’ll actually be ogling over this season.

1. NEUTRALSDress calm and easy, be calm and easy – yoga and the power of visualization taught me that. While I’ve made my affinity for all things grey known, there’s something undeniably regal about showing up to something in various shades of cream, ivory and beige. Sure you’ll need to be on your A-game when it comes to eating anything remotely colored or sauce-y (i.e. food in general), but a layered neutral situation has the ability to evoke a real sense of exclusivity and sophistication (I’m thinking Jack Kennedy in Hyannis Port – who’s with me?).

2. SLIP-ON SNEAKERSSlip-on anything is going to be practical (side-note: who actually likes shoelaces?). While classic Vans are nice, I can’t help but actually be excited when designers like Tim Coppens, Bottega Veneta, Lanvin and Margiela chime in on the slip-on sneaker conversation. Not only are all these kicks super wearable and , they’ll look great either dressed down with jeans and a tee, or conversely worn under a perfectly tailored suit. Let’s not forget that Pharrell essentially jump-started the entire trend by wearing Céline‘s pony hair sneakers everywhere. (Hey Céline, can you make those in larger sizes please?)

3. VARSITY & BOMBER JACKETSI bought my first leather bomber jacket in 2010, and I’ve worn it consistently since. Point being; buy well, wear forever. Also, it’s gratifying to see a trend circle back around because you’re getting return on your initial investment. I’ve worn a few varsity jackets since, but I’ve been virtually visiting this Saint Laurent number for a while now. I might mention that any one of these jackets would work nicely with any pair of the aforementioned slip-on sneakers.

Great post and great look. I recently bought a pair of Tory Burch slip-on sneaker. First pair of slip-ons I’ve owned in many years, I forgot what I was missing. I guess just the laces, haha.
