Awesome Aesop: Smoothed to Perfection

Here’s the thing; marble, both visually and texturally, is perfect. Michelangelo’s Pietà (a masterpiece in which the sculptor famously captures whispers of movement and light) taught me that. And unlike wood or clay, marble has an uncanny ability to represent the supple composition and fluidity of the human form. Point being if I, by some otherworldly power, could transform my skin into one thing, I’d select marble. Smooth yet porous, bright and sculptural – could I ask for more? In-short, no. Evidently Aesop agrees.

Smoothed to Perfection, Aesop’s marble-themed kit (one of five recently launched sets to fall under the Guild of Artisans campaign) is inspired by the intricate practices employed by sculptors. The set’s carefully calibrated, full-sized trio, which promises to cleanse, tone and balance skin, includes Fabulous Face Cleanser, B & Tea Balancing Toner, and Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream. For best results, start by gently cleansing the face and neck with a single pump of Fabulous Face Cleanser (which I blend with a few drops of distilled water, creating a gentle foam). Next, follow with a quick splash of the seriously refreshing B & Tea Balancing Toner, which works to impart that initial layer of hydration (leaving skin feeling seriously fresh). Finally, massage half a teaspoon of Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream in small, circular motions to actively promote blood flow and nutrient delivery. The result? Skin is left smooth, dewy and calm.
